Minister: Dr. John Hobbs

A preacher and educator, Dr. John Hobbs is in his 45th year of preaching. He has taught math in public schools for 34 years and currently teaches at Garland High School.

Dr. Hobbs holds five master’s degrees and two doctorates. He received one of his doctoral degrees in church growth from Harding Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tenn., and the other, in theology, from Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburg, Ind. His master’s degrees in education, divinity, science and biblical studies, came from the University of North Texas, Abilene Christian University, Amber University (now Amberton), and Dallas Baptist University.

He also teaches Greek by correspondence to students all over the world and has taught the Greek language in his home. He has continued his education and has over 575 audit (not-for-credit) college hours in biblical studies. Dr. Hobbs has written nine books; his most recent, “The Word Was God", was published in 2009.

In 1995, Dr. Hobbs was recognized for his work as a math teacher by the Texas House of Representatives. He has been honored with many teaching awards including teacher of the year and outstanding teacher.

Dr. Hobbs was born and raised in Fort Worth, and lives with his wife in Wylie. They have four sons and five grandchildren.
